May is here which means summer is right around the corner! We are so thankful for all that God has continued to do in Mexico during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many churches have been built, homes have been provided to families in need, and most importantly, the love of Jesus has been shared!

“Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The love of Jesus is eternal! What an honor we have each and every day to show the love of Jesus to the people around us. John Maxwell once said, “Don’t start by trying to change the world. Start by changing your world!” Simple acts that show others the love of Jesus can radically change the people around you. We pray that your world would be changed by Jesus in you!

Where It All Started

For about 30 years, Paul and Judy have been ministering to the people of Mexico by building churches and clinics, bringing The Word in different conference and events, and providing for orphans and widows. It all started when Paul and Judy were on a trip in Mexico and saw the poor conditions that many people were living in. They wanted to do something to help the people. Soon after this, they were introduced to Larry and Mary Lou Myers. After hearing of the work that Larry and his organization, Mexico Ministries, were doing in Mexico, Paul and Judy decided to get involved.

They began by using their background in construction to build churches and medical clinics. Since the beginning of their work in Mexico, over 700 indigenous groups in Chiapas have been ministered to. These villages continue to receive the Word of God through their local church built by the sponsors that keep Pogue Family Missions going.

Although Paul and Judy started working in Mexico over 30 years ago, Pogue Family Missions was officially created in 2010. Their main focus has been building churches in small communities in Mexico, but since its beginning, PFM has opened Casa de Esperanza, a home bringing home and restoration to women and children, hosted a yearly Christmas trip for the children at Casa Hogar Alegre and assisted in many other projects across Mexico.

Let's Build Some Homes!

Over the past few months, we have been working to build new homes in Tuxtla for a few families from Torre Fuerte that were kicked out just before Christmas. Over 200 families were evicted from their homes in an area where Torre Fuerte had been hosting weekly kids programs and given food and household supplies.

In January, we set a goal to raise $49,000 to cover the cost of land and 4 casitas, or small homes. Thanks to you, we have been able to raise $30,700 with an additional commitment of $4,000! Two of the homes have been completed and given to the families that will live there. They are so excited and blessed to have a place to call home.
Pictured above is one of the new casitas.
The remaining amount needed to complete this project is $14,300. This will go towards completing the additional homes. If you feel led to give toward this project, please click the link below and include "Tuxtla Casitas" in the Special Instructions. If you're unable to help financially, we ask that you pray for the families that have been evicted and help us share this project. We know that with your help we can provide shelter to these families!

Need For Water

Did you know that 80.6% of Mexico’s indigenous population live below the poverty line? This means that 80.6% of Mexico’s indigenous people live on less than $2 a day. Most indigenous communities lack access to many resources, including clean drinking water.

The probability of death due to preventable disease is 181% higher in indigenous populations. Many of these preventable diseases are brought on by lack of clean drinking water and sanitation.

Last month, we shared with you about our new water filtration systems that we are distributing to families in need. We would love to give out even more water filtration systems so that more people can have access to one of the most basic necessities.

Hope for the Future

Although we have not been able to be in Mexico physically over the last few months, our efforts to support the people and the mission of our organization have not stopped. Thanks to your generous donations, we have been able to continue supporting the local orphanage, Casa Hogar Alegre, the clinic in Tuxtla, the widows at Casa de Esperanza, the local pastor, and we've been able to fund the building of multiple churches. We are looking forward to hosting our first team this October and continuing to be a part of the ministry taking place in Mexico. If your organization or church would like to book at trip for this year, please contact Matt Payne at mpayne@poguemissions.org.
